Yet another piece from my Grandmother. She really had quite a bit of jewelry as you can see. This is just a small part of what she all handed down over the years. I think this piece goes with the brooch that I posted yesterday. I think that they are Aurora Borealis but I am not sure. The back is all gold as you can see. Any ideas of the sones or it's worth??? Thanks..............
This is a great piece! I believe the hook should be signed Lisner. Very collectible! The main stones are known as carved Lava rock w/iridescent finish. If the hook is not signed Lisner my next guess would be Florenza. Keep posting, your grandmother has some great stuff!
Yes, vintagemad, you are right........the hook is signed Lisner! I didn't even see that!!! So what does that mean?? Thanks....................
Lisner is the company that made the necklace. Lisner is a very popular & collectible name. Costume jewelry has a huge collectible market signed pieces are most sought after & bring decent prices. Many companies made jewelry but some names are prized above others. Trifari, Marcel Boucher, Miriam Haskell, Coro, Lisner & many others. As a collector myself I am always looking for interesting pieces with interesting stones like the ones in your necklace. I know many others do as well. This is what drives prices. So congrats to you for having such a stylish grandmother.
Thanks so much for the info........I also have the earrings that go with this necklace, ( just found them) I also have some pieces that are marked.......Laguna, Garne, and Bogoff.....ever heard of those? You really are quite the expert on this kind of stuff....thanks again. And how do I find out the worth of these item, not that I would want to sell them, but very curious......
All very good quality companies, Bogoff pieces are fairly hard to find. It's nice that you found the earrings, demi sets & parures always bring a higher price. If you want an idea on prices you can look right here on collectors weekly. At the top of the screen you see all the categories, go to the jewelry & look under costume. They have a whole Lisner page & many more. You can see in real time what items are being sold for on eBay.
