The saving bank is one of the items in my Remember Pearl Harbor collection. Not in the best shape, but it is a hard item to find. The saving bank was manufactured by the Ohio Art Co. in early 1942, before metal rationing was instituted in the spring of 1942 for private business.

My great aunt was a nurse in Newfoundland and volunteered to go to Pearl Harbor 5 days after the attack. She spent 9 weeks there and received a letter from President Truman about a year later. When i go back east in the fall I'll try and get some pictures or a copy.
