This 1901 Sessions Clock Co. Calendar clock has been in my family since it was new. It still works great, is very accurate and has the original label on the back of the clock. I haven't seen any just like it and was curious as to its value. Any suggestions?
Hi Mike,
If your heirloom clock is 35 1/2 " high it's Sessions "Regulator H". It's listed in my reference as circa 1908, but if your family bought it new, then you know for certain what year it was purchased.
The strike/calendar model originally retailed for $7.90 which would have been only about $190 in 2010. In mint original condition it was last professionally appraised by Tran Duy Ly in 2002. At that time its "book" value was $550. In today's market that would be full retail.
Two have recently sold on eBay for around $300. They were were not calendar movements but even so, those were pretty good prices. A strike/calendar movement MIGHT add another $50-$75, but as you probably know, auctions are very much hit or miss.

You can do an internet search on the make and model that I've given you above and find many more auction results. Even in today's market, the clock has appreciated in its original value.
Now, after all of that, if your clock doesn't measure just of 35", please post the measurements and we'll try this again.
A very nice! Thanks for posting your heirloom.
Bruce99 - The clock measures 39 1/2" from top to bottom. The actual clock with out the molding is 30 1/2".
Then it's probably a "Regulator E", not "H", although, other than their size, the two are almost identical.
Here is a recent auction result on eBay

If you want to confirm, carefully look on the back of the case. There may still be a label there.
Let us know what you find, or if you have any other questions.
Regards,
Bruce
A couple of more things;
Sessions had two versions of the Regulator E. One was plain, the other had more ornate carvings like yours.
That eBay listing I referenced before was another 'H' model.
None of Sessions' Regulator series that I found actually measured 39 1/2", they are listed as measuring 38 1/2"
Here are a couple of links to "E" models but there's still not too much info. Again, the best way to id your clock would be to check for a label on the back.

Hope this helps.
Thanks Bruce. I need to have the clock serviced soon so I will check the label then. Thanks again for your help.
You're very welcome Mike! That's really a nice looking clock. Enjoy and please check back in to let us know what you find out. Thanks for sharing it!
