I found this in an estate sale. I am pretty sure it is a hood ornament. It looks like brass with chrome plate. It also looks handmade due to the variation in thickness of the metal. I would not think this is a standard, but possibly a custom ornament. What do you think?

I believe this to be a aftermarket hood ornament and it looks like a Consolidated Constellation. These were the premier passenger plane in the '50's although there were some used by the military. I think Eisenhower used one as Air Force One.

It is a "Connie" but not a hood ornament. I have what is left of my Grandfather's . I played with it as a toy for years causing the propeller disks to brake, and I broke the tail on one side trying to straighten a bend. Oh, it was a deocoration on an ash tray. If I remember correctly, it said "T.W.A." on mine at one time. The attachment point on the bottom was a ball socket so it could be moved around. I don't remember much of the ash tray part but I have been playing with the airplane sence atleast 1973.. My wing is thinner than what yours appears to be. I found this link with one like it: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/1960s-art-deco-air-france-133029155
