    MyMothersD…
    (5 items)

This doll is from my mom's collection. Most of her dolls have been hers since childhood. She now has Alzheimer's and doesn't always remember each doll's origin or name.
This appears to be a 21", composition, unmarked Madame Alexander Doll with a Wendy Ann face. Her auburn hair is a disaster.
My mom says it's a Portrait doll but I can't find a picture that looks like this.
I am unsure if this gold gown is her original dress but it fits her well.
    Does anyone recognize her?
    Thanks.

It is a Wendy Ann composition doll. The dress looks original to her . The Wendy Ann was always unmarked . Her dress would be tagged if original . Look inside at all the seams for a tag . The Portrait Wendy Ann face dolls had their eyes and eyebrows painted different tthan Wendy Ann . A very nice keepsake doll ! Sorry about your Mom's illness I know it s devastating . Welcome to CW and hope this solves your mystery as I am sure she is just Wendy Ann . Her hair could be fixed and she would look pretty .
As far as dress's Wendy Ann had many styles of dress's so looking for just a dress would be hard. I have seen enough of their clothes to believe yours is correct and should have a tag . also look close at neckline on inside back of dress . It might just be tattered tag by now so look close . am ashowing you wendy Ann and also portrait doll the eyes you will see are different .

Thank you. I can see that you're right. I have switched one of the photos to show you that there is a tag but it is green now and nothing can be read on it. I wish I knew what it said.

I can't believe how quickly you answered my question. It was like midnight on a Saturday when I posted (not that I don't have a Social life . . . or anything even remotely resembling one . . .) and you came back within a couple of hours.

I have a HUGE collection of my mom's dolls to get through.
      I'll be back soon.
This is a GREAT and informative site and you are obviously very knowledgeable.

Oh, and thank you for your kind words about my mom. I should tell you that she's very happy and I plan on keeping her that way!

      Thanks again

Your welcome and yes that tag is correct for Wendy and is in spot usually found on her clothes :-)

This is what tag would have said ,

I think that this one is similar to the one my mom has. My mother's is smaller and was a bride. otherwise same face, hair color etc.

Yes the made her in the smaller size like yours also . Same face and this one is in original dress for 18 inch doll . They did however do a few different styles of brides dress's through the years .
