This book needs to be rebound, the original binding is stitched and it is loose. There is a price of 3cents on the spine.Does this 3cent mark add value to the book? Will removing it devalue the book? Is this book valuable?

When you want to find values of old books I highly recommend http://www.vialibri.net

You can find a perfectly fine copies of this book out there for 5-10 bucks, so it's definitely not worth a rebinding unless you have a strong sentimental attachment to this copy. Rebinding can cost in excess of 100 dollars and vary depending greatly on what kind of material you want to use, the size of the book and if any particular additions are to be made. Even if you do have highly collectible books in bad shape it's actually better to avoid rebinding it completely and try to have it repaired instead.
