We've had this antique Crosley radio for years. We got it from an elderly aunt who lived in Pennsylvania. All she told us about it was that she thought it was from the 1930s or 40s and the front was designed to be taken out and replaced by a TV. It's in working order. Also came with a removable phonograph (with a few records).
Thanks for any information you can provide or tips on how to track down information. I've been to a number of websites and can't find this specific model.
There should be a number on the metal chassis in the back that could give a clue. I think the angle of the dial rules out this being a television. You'd have to watch it standing up. I've never seen a turntable that was removable before. Does it have it's own shelf in the back?
The turntable was added later. It's 78 speed electric and hard wired into the console speaker. The slot where the radio dial sets was advertized by the dealers to be expandable to TV that was being developed. This I was told by my father who was born in 1920. The radio has 3 bands, P, A and F. I remember am, short wave and maybe a long wave or merchant marine band. In the early 60's we pulled in some foreign radio, all from Vandergrift, PA.
