I have been trying to date this sewing machine with no luck and never seen one like it. You plug the light and motor into the carrying case , then you have a cord to plug into you outlit. The Presser foot is a Singer. Dose anyone know if this is a Koyo made in Japan and what year? the Model # is 0445.
A machine that has built in zig-zag function will be at least early 60's. Are there any markings, numbers, letters etc underneath the machine?
Bernadette, yes , on the side the serial #is 0445 the model # 742 and under belly the markings are U105, KK, J-C5, J-A33(?)or55(?) hard to read this one because of it's placement.

There is some discussion here about a machine that sounds the same.
It sounds the same as the under markings on my mechine. It just dose not have the dail n saw, could it be that they made one base machine with a different nobes?
The numbers are factory codes, they would have made different models. There isn't a lot known about identifying these Japanese machines - there were literally hundreds of sewing machine manufacturers in Japan after WWII, exporting machines to western countries where local electrics, English names etc were added for resale by importers or retailers.
This is like a how's how and the quest go's on!
