I picked this up at the local thrift store for 7.99, quite a heavy pinwheel crystal decanter. The last two pictures are of etchings on the bottom of the decanter and on the bottom of the top, wondering if that is numbered to match the proper top with decanter? Would love some info on Pinwheel crystal, I could not find much online and have yet to find a book relating to crystal. Hoping someone has some insight on the age or style? Or on the etchings?
The insight is this. This is a new piece of glass meaning it could be from the 1960s on. It was made in Europe or England. Numbering is to match a bottle with a stopper. Pinwheel is a pattern, not a type of crystal. In old American cut glass 1875-1915, this pattern is not very wanted for some reason, I think it is sort of nice. Anytime you see a piece of cut glass with a grey, unpolished area like this stopper, it will not be American, always something from Europe. For the price paid, it was a good deal.
Thank you so much for the insight Mark, much appreciated : )
