I found my first Dansk plastic piece today! Designed by Gunnar Cyren in the 70s. I had obviously seen these on line, and kind of wondered at the fuss. In person, this guy is really cool. Much heavier than I anticipated and seems to change shape as you move it around. The back (2nd pic) is almost more interesting that the front. I had to put it against the green tile we have in our kitchen just to try and contrast how bright yellow he is. The more I handled this piece the more it intrigues me.

Hiya V! How are you doing? Do you have a lot of this line? I was really shocked on how heavy duty it was.

Hi Amber. I have none at all, but I have some other pieces by Jens Quistgaard. It really is Pop! Mary Quant! It's a cool morning here. This is a departure from the clear glass: is it the colour that you like too!

Weeelll, I am partial to orange but this guy matches my Smiley mugs. I am excited as there will be a big neighborhood garage sale near me this weekend. 55 houses!

Just came back from a quick bike ride with my daughter. We have had a break from a week of rain.

      Hi!
      Good luck with them.
Though on the topic of garage sales tomorrow........ tomorrow is The Garage Sale Trail an annual event now in Sydney and now Australia wide! It started in 2010.
"Tomorrow, more than 6000 households across the country will be opening their garages and inviting strangers in to flick through their records, try on their dated clothes and eat snacks.
The Garage Sale Trail was started by Darryl Nichols and Andrew Valder in 2010 as a small community festival aimed at raising awareness about illegal dumping in Bondi. In its first year 126 households participated. That number grew to 1613 last year as numerous councils started promoting the cause." Sydney Morning Herald.

      The politics of garage sales:

The Garage Sale Trail is a program that enables the peer-to-peer exchange of assets, resources and money on a hyper local level but with national scale. It happens all over Australia on one day, Saturday May 5th 2012.

The Garage Sale Trail is about sustainability, creativity, community and micro-enterprise.

The Garage Sale Trail is a platform for anyone who wants to make some money or raise money for a cause and for anyone who wants to connect with their community

The Garage Sale Trail is for makers & creators, local business, households, cultural institutions, charities and community groups.

The Garage Sale Trail a perfect way to discover treasure, de-clutter, have fun, make money, make a positive contribution and make neighbourhood connections.

I love a good garage sale. I would try to go to as many as reasonable.
I will actually be having one June 2 with some friends at their community sale. No vintage selling for me, or maybe a few miss fires. Mostly household goods, books, kitchen stuff, etc.
The kids will sell lemonade. Last year they earned enough to gorge when the ice cream truck came around :))

Although most of the Dansk stuff was designed by Jens Harald Quistgaard, the stuff desined by Cyren is amazing. Well, he was pretty amazing, just lok at his pop goblets!

Thanks Austro. How was your birthday?

Garage sales were plentiful, fun but not full of collectibles. I mostly bought small kiddo toys. Thomas train, Zhou pets and magnets for son, stuffed dog, predictor toy (it's fun but hard to explain), magnifying glass and a smiley face watch for daughter. I got myself a fun necklace but not vintage. I did see a large Flora Arabia bowl that matches the one I found but it seemed expensive at ten bucks. I think I am ruined by the thrift. It was really fun, and the kids were thrilled with their loot.

Thanks Scandi, hope you are doing well.

      Hi Amber!
I did about ten of them but really found nothing except grief! I came across a couple of things that I would have bought except that this woman's son in law had a mobile phone and googled them while I was negotiating with her another vase by Per Lutken. A done deal, she already had the $20 for a Kaj Bojeson hippo, it was ripped from my hands by the son in law. I was then called an "a***h***" by this generation X'er when I told her the deal had already been done. I was not happy.
I'd had better luck at the market up the road with the Susie Cooper beakers posted today. I went home and managed to get a vase by Sea of Kosta in Sweden.

Wow! I would have placed a certain kick then said it was a done deal!

Thanks to you all. But at least I got the Susie Cooper pieces earlier that boring and an early little Sea Glasbruk bowl on the way back home. The reward came on Sunday at the Collector's Market! Karma!

I have this item in purple. My mother was a purple 'nut' and did a lot of entertaining. I have all her platters and serving pieces (especially since I gave most of them to her over the years), and enjoy using them every day.
