    MyMothersD…
    (5 items)

Still sorting out my Mom's dolls. I found these two 11 1/2" composition dolls. The dolls themselves have no markings. The first one is wearing a dress tagged "Wendy Ann Madame Alexander", and the second is wearing a dress tagged "Madelaine Madame Alexander". I can find newer versions of dolls by that name but I was looking for info on these two.
Are these the correct names for these dolls? Do you know their age or value?
    Thank you,
    Dobie

They are from 30's to 40's and are correct . Both have the Wendy Face . Madame Aexander made just a few faces and used same face on different named dolls like the Madelaine Du Bain doll . Both are composition . Madelaine is a harder to find doll in tagged dress than Wendy Ann . Very nice dolls !

Is it common for Madame Alexander dolls to be totally unmarked? I'm having trouble finding these dolls in the 11" size.
Also, Is there any sort reference point to find out about the clothing (Madelaine's dress has a hoop skirt)? Did each outfit have a specific name?
      I'm sorry . . . I'm really bombarding you with questions!
      Thanks,
      Dobie

Yes the early dolls were usually unmarked and only clothes tagged . No ryhme or reason to why some are marked Alex and others nothing . But yes her Composition dolls were often unmarked mostly Wendy . They are her dolls though . The face is unmistakable Wendy Ann :-)

One more question and I'll leave you alone (until I find another with which I need help!).
Are "Madelaine" and "Madelaine du Bain" two distinct dolls?
Did they come in many different dresses?
      (ok, that was 2 questions)
      Thanks,
      Dobie

Madelaine DuBain was sold in several sizes and various outfits from 1937-41. Later, she was made in hard plastic using the Maggie face.
