These stunning shades were made by John Walsh Walsh right around the turn of the century. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the lamps could be original? The look a little art deco to me. Not even sure if they had electric lamps this early. They seem to be a perfect fit.
To my eye the decoration is late Victorian, an Aesthetic Movement look.
Edison's lamps go back to 1879.
Certainly their competitors at James Powell & Sons were doing electric lamps with metalwork by W.A.S. Benson in the Arts and Crafts manner c.1898.
You will probably need access to Glass of John Walsh Walsh 1850-1951 by Eric Reynolds.
I bet Leah Goodwin will know!
Thanks for the info! I examined the lamps and found marking on the bottom. It reads Lapco 2506. I did an internet search and found some similar lamp bases that say they date around 1915ish.
