I am trying to find out something about this hatpin which I think belonged to my grandmother or great aunt. I can't work out if it is initials around a stylised heart or just a pretty Art Nouveau design. It is not hallmarked but it was tarnished like silver when I took it out of the box.
I would be very grateful for anyone's opinion.
    Thanks for your help :)

      Hello,
Very nice pin. May I ask what your grandmother's initials are?
      Thanks,
      Jason

      Hi Jason
We did think about that but her initials were LMG (maiden name) and LMK (married name). MY great aunts were PAG and MAG.
My OH seems to think he can see possibly letters A, M and I in the design, I can go along with the A but I can't see the other two. We wondered if another possibility was it could be the initials of the name of a society, group or similar that she belonged to?
Thank you very much for your comment.

      Thank you very much AR8Jason.
Do you think the design is initials or just a stylised design? Am I correct in describing this as Art Nouveau or is that the wrong period?

      Thank you again AR8Jason.
I can only see the letter A, I think my OH's vision of letters M and I was a little imaginative! A would fit in with the baby of the family, my great uncle who adored his elder sister, my grandmother, and gave her many gifts before going off to the Great War and sadly he never returned.
