could someone please help me identify what this item is? i'm not sure if it's from a car, motorcycle, or what it is. it has no company stamps or markings. when you look into it, you can see two electrodes where the power jumps across to create light. and it's adjustable.
i would think the lens must have been a magnifying glass lens.
any info on what it is or what it's worth would be very appreciated!
please help!
Just guessing here,
The electrodes on the inside would indicate a carbide lamp. It's built pretty heavy duty, industrial or commerical use. My guess would be twords some kind of light used in a minning operation, possible on the front of a minning car.
hey thanks dave! i think that sounds likely. but i am from a town that used to have a train engine plant located here in the early 1900s, it was the corliss steam engine plant. i work for the city and we were clearing out a nature trail when we stumbled across an old dump site full of old vintage bottles and other things.
that's where i found this peice. i wonder if it may be from a corliss steam engine?
Another idea is a nautical binnacle.
