This is a really big clock, about 59" high and 20" wide, with an 18" dial. The clock appears to be an early version of the Regulator 31. There is no evidence that the clock had finials on top or the gallery on the bottom. The case is of oak and stained a weathered grey; I don't know if the finish is original, but is very old and is does not appear to be paint. I am apparently the 3rd owner. The clock originally hung in a jewelery store in Monterey, CA. and was acquired about 40 or more years ago by a lawyer who took the clock in trade for some legal work. The massive pendulum is a Zinc and Steel Compensation pendulum offered by Seth Thomas about 1907. The pendulum weighs 16 pounds! I even got the original key. UPDATE: I have now refinished the clock so it looks more like it did when it was new. This clock may be a few years earlier than most examples. The roman numerals reflect an earlier style. In addition, the massive pendulum, shown in a 1907 illustration, is quite scarce, and I can find no other example of this clock and this pendulum.
