Old 1910 Movie projector marked " Fabrication Francaise - Paris " and a sigle number . 31 637 - Probably from Pathe Freres but i'm not sure . It comes from an old Cinema/Kino in the center of my town , on the base there is a mark : " Industria Cinematografica Torino" and the address . For me look complete but i'm not of the sector . and i don'y know . any idea ? about age ? constructors ?
Thanks soo much : - )
Alberto
Nice Camera . one of the early time . i suppose .
This is very Cinema Paradiso!
The address is an interesting one as well.
Via XX settembre 15.
There's a cinema there even today!
Right in the heart of Torino.
I know the cinema Reposi was re-built in 1946 at this address.
Today it is a multiplex (multisala) with 5 smaller cinemas.
But what was there before the War?
Reposi also hosts the Torino Film Festival these days.
Interestingly too Torino was the place where Italian cinema began before it centred on the new capital outside Rome at Cinecitta'. It was in Torino where the first Italian film screening took place in 1896.
In practically every Italian town there is a "September 20 street" commemorating that day in 1870 when Rome became part of the newly formed Italy. At that time Torino was Italy's capital.
There must be more to this than meets the eye!
Ciao , Vetraio Nice to meet you again . Is totally wird that i have information about Cinema in Torino from you that live in Australia . This is the power of WEB . I think is made in France Paris early 1900 and than come to Torino That's whi there are two Mark.
Thanks . Grazie .
Alberto.
I've been looking around for you for the last couple of days. I still have not found out what was happening at the address of XX settembre 15 prior to 1946. I know that cinema Reposi was earlier called Olimpia. The premises were gutted in 1946 and re-built by Amedeo Reposi. Amedeo's father Felice had been an early film entrepreneur who created a film hire service in Savona in 1906: La Ligure Film.
I suppose my question to you is "do you know anything more about the site before World War II? Can you tell me more about "Olimpia"? I get the feeling that they were a cinema/theatre chain in Italy.
An interesting feature of your projector is the "propellor blade" at the front. I think the Pathé Frères version had a "Maltese Cross" invented by Pierre-Victor Continsouza. But the use of it would suggest after 1906, I think.
How is your French?
I've found a rather interesting site in France that has very detailed work on early French projectors. The more you delve into the links the more you find.
The full list of French makes is here.....beware it is a mile long!

The Pathé Frères projectors are here:
http://cinematographes.free.fr/pathe-rural.html
But nothing similar there!
I found a La Bonne Presse projector from 1923 that is interesting "Cinéma d'exploitation Type moyen 1923":
http://cinematographes.free.fr/bonne-presse-exploitation.html
But it uses the Maltese Cross. It was also hand driven in 1923.
Another interesting one is called Le Géant. It figures in a catalogue of 1914 by Georges Mendel. There's an intriguing picture in the bottom right hand corner of this page:

The camera looks like yours hooked up to a sound system by Etienne Mollier.
The Sun symbol of the trade mark has me intrigued too.
Solus? Lumiere?
This will take some time!
Thanks Vetraio four your Time . My Franch is good I live 30 Km. from the border . I'm intrigued too about the Sun Simbol . yes Lumiere ? Solus ?
The reserch continue .... But i know at the end we win !! difficult to have news from cinema Olimpia .
Grazie tantissimo . Albert

Or : http://www.flickr.com/photos/72185241@N00/3259704183/
So it is a Pathé-Renforcé?
Can I ask what you mean by "Only the stopwatch is FRANCE home ."?
Hi vetraio
The stopwatch i suppose is The metal tings who stop the pellicola . I guess ....
..... i cilindri che trascinano la pellicola? The timing mechanism.
Congratulations on this really rare item!
Ciao Vetraio
Penso sia il blocco con la finestra che tiene pressata la pellicola che scorre . Comunque anche la Pathè Frères è Francese . a Good Hunting to everyone : )
I find some good stuff this week end .
Capito!
I hope to see some of the new stuff soon!
A più presto!
