it took me awhile to figure out the name that was frosted on the underside of the foot/base...i bought this because of the little etched fish...so glad i did! i was told as a child that fish are a sign of good luck! i was very happy to find info on the internet about my little glass. i apologize about the poor quality pics.... the bottom says stuart england Lkny.

I have quite a lot of Stuart Crystal, but I have never seen this pattern. I think it's a pretty rare piece and Lugwig Kny is a well respected designer/glass cutter.

thank you for your comment and I agree...I have never seen another LKNY liqueur glass with the engraved fish...this is my favorite crystal piece. i don't get out as often as i used to but i hope one day to find a mate for the one i have. once again thank you for your comment.

I am currently writing a book on Stuart Crystal. The intaglio pattern on this glass appears in pattern book 19 for 1934 (@ the Wedgwood Museum archive), albeit not on a wine glass. The fact that it is signed and the engraving dates to 1934 raises the exciting possibility that it was a rare exhibition piece destined for the Harrods 1934 Modern Art for the Table, for which only 12 signed pieces were produced unless the range went into production. If it did go into production, it probably wouldn’t be signed but would be in the book. You have a rare piece there and it would be sought after by collectors.
