I recently got these ancient looking silver coins, they have crosses stamped on one side and different hallmarks on the reverse side. One of the coins was turned into a money clip. Another coin featured in the bottom corner of the first picture seems to be of different origin and more pictures will be posted in another post.

If anyone knows anything about these coins I would greatly appreciate it.
I am especially interested to find out if they are worth more than the value of the silver.

    Thank you

I certainly hope you didn't buy them just for the silver. Now, if these pieces could TALK!! Just imagine where they came from and where they have been. Too fascinating to melt this away.

Mizjane, thats why I saved them from being melted. I thought they were fascinating and didnt want them to disappear.

This address has the beginnings of some material for you. Spanish Reales and Mint marks on the side. I'm sure others will be able to give an opinion about authenticity.
      Thanks for sharing them:

These are known as cob coinage and are very collectible.

Thank you very much for the information Militarist!
I looked up cob coins and got a lot more information about how and why they were made.
