Crosby Pup Corkscrew

I must say that when I used think of Bing Crosby, White Christmas or Holiday Inn would be the first things that came to mind. For others it might be Bob Hope teamed with Bing for the "Road" movies. However, when I started collecting corkscrews some years ago, I learned about a desirable dachsund associated with the famed crooner; a collectible corkscrew known as the "crosby pup."

Now, the tale goes that Bing had this wonderful wiener dog created to give his friends. And, over time these "gifts" have surfaced in estate sales, antique shops, and on eBay. Fortunately, one has also found its way to my house...

I would love to find out if the Bing story is true. Did he really have these created? Or, was this a premium by some company back in the day? Eitherway, it is a fantastic corkscrew, and I would love to have another, as the first is a little lonely...
