I am currently trying to find out what era these came from and a little more about them. I picked them up at a yard sale for $20 (all 4). After a little cleaning up (years of kids gunk on em), they looked like little antique gems. I bought them for my covered porch table, but if they turn out to be more valuable than I thought, they will remain indoors.
In the 1950s baker introduced these style chairs. Its hard to say when they were manufactured. Their collection is fairy extensive to say the least. Baker today is still producing high end American furniture. They also reproduce furniture for many important historical society's.
If these chairs were to be fully restored and sold through a design center I'm sure the set would be pricey. Like most older furniture the craftsmanship alone is rarely found in today expensive furniture. The style of these chairs have been desirable through many different eras and continue to do so.
IMO
They belong under your bottom side away from harsh conditions.
I had an estimate on some chairs today and was surprised because of the person who made them they are valuable but by looking at them you wouldn't think so , so make sure because lack of knowledge can costs you in money .
Some places have free estimates but be careful an antique dealer came to a person's hou I know and told them an antique mirror was only worth sixty dollars and it was worth at least 4,500 , a chair could be worth 300.00 or 3, 000 there are different factors that go into it , there is a free appraisal auction house in beverly ma. Kaminski and if you sent them the photo they could give you a free estimate , I couldn't tell from the photo a little dark . I just googled baker chairs and e bay came up and some of the baker chairs are good money for them . you should get two appraisals , if a dealer knows you know what you have they won't try to take advantage of you , put in baker antique furniture e bay and you'll see some places but e bay isn't the top line answer .
if you find out post on here thank you hopesinging
Thank you both so much! They've been inside ever since I got them. I will contact Kaminski's shortly. Jmack, I heeded your advice haha. They are very comfortable chairs and are a welcome addition to our home.
