This is an 1831 Singer Treadle Sewing machine that I converted into a working desk with an angle work top.
Whether reading a book, as a drafting desk, or leaving it flat it is functional.
All original , and the top lid can be used as a flat desk if flip lid in not desired.
The sewing machine was ok condition, so maybe I will use that for something else.
As you see in the photo's a before and after, look at the 2nd photo from left.
Before I glued a new board, I found this 1831 on the underside.
Some had placed this outside on trash day, so I never was able to retrieve the middle drawer., bummer!

"Singer Corporation is a manufacturer of sewing machines, first established as I.M. Singer & Co. in 1851 by Isaac Merritt Singer"
"Sewing machines did not go into mass production until the 1850's, when Isaac Singer built the first commercially successful machine. Singer built the first sewing machine where the needle moved up and down rather than the side-to-side and the needle was powered by a foot treadle."

I was lucky enough to have the pieces in one of the drawers. Did you try e-bay?
sometimes you be surprised on what parts one can find.

Now thats an Idea as long as the wood putty will hold together and not become
brittle over time. Sorry couldn't help. But I did need a center drawer and found one on Ebay. Id I do come across and places for wooden carved pieces for antique treadles, I'll post in on here.

The style of cabinet and the machine (model #15) is from approx. turn of the century, up to 1920's. It's good that you haven't used a rare machine to turn into a desk.
