This coin i found in my change in pic # 1 & 3 is on the right taken next to a regular state Quarter and a proof frosted camio Quarter and one taken (not very successfully) of the side veiw. The coins weight is 5.8 g.
And thereis NO COPPER CENTER in this coin, it appears to be solid not clad. Its a Colorado 2006 P mint mark. Any Ideas on what it could be??
It wouldn't be uncommon for it to have been electroplated.
While it isn't entirely impossible that a planchet could've managed to ride in the hopper for several years (as yours is right around the weight of the low end of the experimental planchet spectrum) it's very unlikely. There have been mid-82 (pre-zinc core) planchet pennies found as late as 1989 so I'm not ruling out the possibility for a Philadelphia Experimental to pop up beyond the six known archetypes...it would be ridiculously unheard of.
One of the easier ways to tell is to check for a "pinwheel/cartwheel" if the coin wasn't quite as circulated. There are also other ways like checking the grain of the metal itself; but it's more likely a gold-plated facsimile. I do hope I'm wrong though, it would be an amazing find.
