these are the 3 tools for a anvil i found in a old dump site picture 1 2 and 4 r the ones number 3 is one my grandfather made out of a old cart axel .they go in the little square hole in the top of the anvil
That square hole is called a "hardy hole."

Nice!! I'd love to find some hardy tools to put with my anvil. I think everyone scrapped all their old metal when the price went crazy though.
i know around here nothing was safe from the junk yards
Here in Canada tremendous amounts of scrap was used in WWII, farmers were coming out of a tough time, so anything that wasn't being used was put towards the war effort.
Blacksmiths were ahead of there time they were the original recyclers, in image 3 you can still see the threads from the axle your Grandfather made it from.
