Looks like a RAF top gun patch.
Look on the UK eBay and you will find them.

It's a USAF rank insignia for Sergeant, or 'Buck' Sergeant. Or now I think they call it Senior Airman.
The color is strange. I thought maybe an early band uniform? Or out west, in the big cave in Colorado, the satellite trackers all wear blue flight suites. Maybe it's for an enlisted sergeant?
On Senior Airman patches, the star is not colored. They started this rank during the time I was in the USAF (around 1977-78). I was due for promotion to Sgt. on the very month they began the SRA program. The idea was to make people wait a little longer to become an NCO, as the SRA was not considered to be an NCO, but Sgt. was. So I had to wait another 18 months (I think that's what it was, maybe a year) to become Sgt. Never saw rank insignia in red though.
