During the period of time following the United States Centennial sheet metal stars were used on quite a few barbed wire designs. Was it due to patriotism or was it religious symbolism? Stars have long been used to represent various articles of faith. In either event we were left with some unique examples of creative minds at work.

I am very interested in the history of star wire. Can you direct me to a book or place where I might get information? Thanks

nascartlb - click on the star at the bottom of the keyboard. You will find that there is a barbed wire with each of these shapes. Symbolic wire? I don't know. Just my opinion.

Very historically interesting GateKeeper, and well written too.
