does anyone know who made this and when? mccoy? weller woodcraft? shawnee? or is it just early african violet? it's very cute and in great condition. very complex mold work too.

Sorry, it's a recent asian import.

I am seeing this cute planter being offered as vintage on several sites. It certainly does have the look of vintage pottery. A good example of buyer beware. I think art.pottery is correct. I found the pot at East Bay Wilds Nursery's site, in the garden statues, pots, and things section. I've been researching a little green elephant planter that is unmarked, that has a very similar look to it.

I would agree that this is likely a recent asian import, in part due to the entirely glazed bottom. I am getting ready to post a majolica elephant I am thinking may be older... I'll be curious to hear what others think. It will be my first time trying out Show and Tell. :)

I think this is very nice, even if it is a new export.
I just wanted to say I've entirely glazed bottoms on old Bretby pieces, so i wouldn't go by that alone.

East Bay Wilds Nursery in Oakland? What a funny coincidence. I found you online while doing research for my elephant planter. I will have to visit in-person. I am not too far away, in Yuba City. Another funny coincidence.

please do visit when you can. there are lots of hidden treasures there, and not all of them are plants.
