As I'm heading back east for my five-year college reunion this weekend, I thought it would be appropriate to post a commemorative plate featuring the Vassar campus. I assume this was a series of Wedgwood plates, but the only piece I have shows the formal entrance under Taylor Hall - a gorgeous neo-gothic castle used as an arts building and library - surrounded by a floral/fruit border.
On the back you can see it was produced in 1929, and imported by Jones, McDuffee & Stratton of Boston. There's also a perfect little Wedgwood embossed stamp, along with a serial number I believe.
Formal china like this isn't really my style, but I do have a growing collection of Vassar-related memorabilia, which I shall post more of soon. My dad actually just sent me a great 60s-70s sweater with the school's name emblazoned on the front, which is more my vibe :)
thanks Bellin, eye4beauty, scandinavian_pieces, and miKKo! Brewers for life!!
It was a rowdy and super-fun weekend, though I'm definitely happy to be an alum and no longer a college student. :)
