It has gold detail round the mounted preserved butterfly's, any help or advice as to who is the maker? The stamp (makers mark) has no name.

What an interesting piece! It's really quite lovely. I'd love to see it in person, 'cause I think this is one that a picture just doesn't do justice. While I can't tell you the maker, I know that the knot is something called the "Stafford knot" or sometimes, "Staffordshire knot" design. It began being used in the mid 1800's. It's a marking on Staffordshire and many Stoke-on-Trent makers. Sometimes found alone, but usually with initials and sometimes wings on the crown. Hope this will help you a little in your search.

Thank you it does, I have already looked into the 'staffordshire knot' but i really just don't know where to start, I think i may have to take it to the professionals!
