    found this during a pick and I am not even sure what it is or what category to put it in . It is steel and has screw holes in the base .One of those curiosities you just kind of hang on to.

      It looks like a boot scraper. Very ornate.

      mrmajestic beat me to it! I agree, as long as it's size is right. Can't tell anything about the size from the photo.

      I concur with the first two posts: it is a boot scraper. It was usually attached near the door or enterance to the main house so that people could scrape the mud, horse manure, etc off their boots. And it is cast iron, not steel. Regards, Diane
