This is the second quill box I just got, made and signed by Melvin Losh. He lives in Minnesota and made this one with the State flower, the pink and white Lady Slipper wild orchid. The box is more oval than circular and it about 5 and 3/4 in diameter by 3 inches high. This one was made about 20 years ago, it is heavy and made with thick double walled Birch Bark. It also has two Lady Bugs on the leaves of the flowers which is his trademark, he puts one or two on every quill box he makes. Mel is one of the best quill box makers in the world and I am happy to own two of his works now. He makes them in the way of the MicMac (geometric) and Ojibwa (flowers) styles and this one is Ojibwa. I hope you enjoy the pictures, I am proud to put them up here.
Thanks, ho2cultcha for the love :)
