My mother collected all kinds of Antiques.
She was also a Decorative Painter and Teacher of Decorative Painting & Faux Finishing for 30 years.
She was also Publisher and Editor of Decorative Painting magazine for 20 years. (Later Painting magazine.)

She bought this Icebox in Ohio and shipped it to Florida.
It has been painted with Flowers over green.
There is brass hardware and it is on wheels.
You put the ice in the top and food inside the door on rotating "lazy susan" shelves.

There is a patent date of 1906 and manufacturer date of 1908 under the lift up lid on top.

My father has one of these, not painted. He would like to sell it. Any ideas where to start looking for a buyer?

Debbie, Sorry it took so long to read your comment, but if you are seeking to sell you ice box. Chris just posted he has wanted to buy one! So maybe you should give him a call. I am considering repainting my ice box as my mother did not paint this one. Her style is much more realistic. She found it as is.

I think I will have it black powder coated and then airbrush FLAMES rising up from around the bottom. And then paint the Harley Davidson logo on it, or find a large, nice metal HD sign that can be rivited onto the ice box and sell it as the ultimate pool side cooler for HD bikers. What do ya'll think?

I love the ice box! We had one and unfortunately we lost a lot of our items during our break-up. It was never painted and still had the label on the inside top lid which named the company and the manufacture date or 1908. It was Canadian, I can't remember exactly the company name and Province. I think it was Ontario, but not certain. I read somewhere that these were a prototype and there were not many made as they never gained popularity. Old habits die hard! I was curious to know about the value of these ice boxes and if there were still a few kicking around. Anyone have any info they could pass on, or sites to check out to find more information?

I have an old metal ice box with a patent date of Aug 18, 1914 and a date below of Jan 15, 1915. It was manufactured by 'Success Manufacturing Co' out of Gloucester, Mass. I'm trying to find how much this ice box is worth. It's all metal standing about 4' high, 2 1/2' in width and 2' in diameter. Any ideas?

I have been researching the round metal ice box so that I might know what mine is worth. I also am a decorative painter who paints on and sells antique metal ware. I am curious to know if your Mother is someone that I might know from the world of decorative painters.
