Vintage Monterey dinnerware. Not a complete set, but I loved it. I have four plates, 3 cups, and a couple bread plates, and a saucer in speckled blue, green, pink, and mauve. Not sure of the year. If anyone has any more info, please share.

Is it china or plastic? It's fabulous, love those colors!
I've got a full set of Monterey that I use everyday, including some serving pieces - it's great stuff! I think the consensus is that the line was manufactured by Metlox after they acquired molds, patterns, etc. from Vernon Kilns when they went out of business in 1958.
stefdesign- Thanks, I fell for the colors too! It's not plastic, but I had to tap on it a few times. It does have a "different" feel to it. It seems like some kind of "china" I'm not sure if it's stoneware or what specifically, but it feels really durable.
Thanks Chadakoin! Glad you enjoy them. I'm going to keep my eye out for additional pieces to add to it. How would I know if my plates were manufactured by Metlox or if they were made prior to that by Vernon Kilns? Is there any way to tell?
Maggie-Dog: I don't thing this line was ever made by Vernon Kilns, only by Metlox Pottery. Metlox used molds they'd purchased from Vernon Kilns to create the dinnerware line, to which they applied their own speckled pattern.
Chadakoin: Okay, now I'm getting it. ;) I was confused because while searching the internet I came across a photo of the plates with the same back stamp, but the owners description said "Monterey" by Vernon Kilns. So, Thank you for clarifying. I appreciate your response. Mystery solved!
