I bought this clock years ago. Face says "Tillery's" improved Little Janitor pat. Nov 9th 1915 Pat Feb 6th 1917 made in USA. Theres a slot in back, I think it is a bank but the bottom is missing. size is 7" x 6"
I'm great! I'm enjoying my favorite passtime, looking at all the different ways to tell time..........love it! Thanks for the love Bellin.
Hi Misty. I looked this up and discovered that these clocks were designed to be used by Janitors in their daily tasks of building maintenance. .
They were basically an alarm that could be attached temporarily or permanently to a mechanism that needed to be "released" at a predetermined time. They could be used to turn light circuits on or off; release the damper or draft mechanisms of a furnace, etc...
The slot you mentioned may have been used to help firmly attach the clock to some mechanism.
Very nice looking clock by the way. Great item to have in your collection!
very interesting Bruce - thanks for that insight!
You're welcome Hunter and thanks to you Misty for sharing this clock/alarm with us.
Thanks for the info Bruce,Thanks for the love eye4beauty, Hunter & AR8.
You're always very welcome Misty! :)
often used to open a chute to let coal drop in a furnace. So you wouldn't need to get up in the middle of the night to have constant heat. I have one!
Thanks for the info clockfreak.
