This is a very heavy post which now stands in my garden. i've seen a couple others around my neighborhood and think that they were part of a very old estate which was built here in the 1850s/60s and which is no longer around. The detail work on this post is very impressive - every inch is finished beautifully in this very hard and strong cement/stone mixture.

has anyone ever seen those oversized, forged candlesticks before? they're kind of interesting - old patina for sure.

i finally found a good use for this post - in a landscape we are doing in Alameda - alongside a driveway we're making w/ antique stone cobbles from san francisco streets.
