These caught my eye as they are the same but different. The collector I got these from purchased them at the Cherokee Reservation in Western North Carolina in 1946. The store was located at the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. They are both around 3 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter. I call them "positive and negative" baskets and you can tell by looking closely that there are small differences between the two baskets. The basket that has more natural coloring is a bit wider and taller than the basket with more black coloring. And there are differences in the weave between the two baskets, which tells me they were definitely hand made. If they were not handmade, the size and weave would be uniform for both baskets. The pamphlet was kept with the little baskets for years but I keep the pamphlet in a plastic sleeve so it does not deteriorate so much. Enjoy the pics.
