The bottom of this piece says" Marutomoware
Made in Japan- with a T inside circle.
The cup and saucer are attached (one piece).
I am assuming it is for a serving dish of some sort, but haven't found another one like it or any info on it. Anyone know anything about it ot if if has much value?

I have this piece as well, including the lid. I believe it is a sugar bowl, and it is stunning when viewed complete. I purchased it on eBay a few years ago, and it has given me a lot of pleasure. I don't recall what I paid, but it was quite a low price. I do not know the name of the pattern. I suggest searching online auctions and other sales in both England and Canada as Marutomoware and similar Japanese pieces seem to show up there frequently.

I have a bowl of similar design with a lid that I was given in the late 1940 and I have been wondering about it for some time...its good to know that my :bread and milk: bowl is really a sugar bowl. I would never get rid of it..
