I am still not sure what technique has been used on this vase. Whatever it is, you don't see these pop up every day. I was quite pleased to bring it home. The color on this is also a much nicer peach color than the bright mustard yellow the sellers pic suggested. It's a warm mellow vase. This is the second one I've bought and it's much much better than the first. :)

this was made in 1888. form 1225/6 decoration v572 Dessine
Colorless glass with white opal underlay, optical decoration of wild roses with leaves, emphasised by embedded ruby red glass powder, overlayed with colorless glas,. painted in raised gold

Really neat glass! Your first two photos give the appearance of cameo, while the last photo (close up) looks as if it is applied.

It's neither. I think it's closer to air trap than applied. the decoration is all encased under a layer of clear glass.
