This was hanging in a house my late husband and me bought in Johannesburg in 94. I think it was an old oil lamp but has been made electric, the etched frosted glass shade seems a bit 'modern' for the lamp but I loved it and brought it home to the UK with me. I know nothing at all about it and would love to hear some opinions please.

The lamp body itself is not that old. It was probably made in the 1970's and was always electric. The shade on the other hand, may be old and appears to be wheel cut. It may actually have some age and value to a collector or a restorer of lamps. The original shade would have matched the floral porcelain part and would have minimal decorative or collectible value. Thank you for sharing.

Hi JohannB. Thank you very much for your time and sharing your knowledge. I thought the shade didn't look right but I still love it just the way it is, again I thank you.
