Just bought today, Saturday 9 June, from a CT tag sale in Iowa. Tried to find out the value of this clock. Looked on Google Chrome, all could find was for model 1872, and smaller ones. It has two Morgan dollars at the twelve and six points, 12 - 1879, 6 - 1878; 3 & 9, two 64 Kennedy halfs, 4,8,10 & 2 points, four washington 64 quarters; 1,5,7, & 11 points, four Roosevelt 64 dimes. On back, it has a brass plate that says limited edition, # 643. Anyone know what is value? Did Marion put real coins into his clocks or are these good fakes? If coins are real, the value of just the dollars have already overpaid back what I gave for it today at the sale.
Anyone might have an answer? Just added the plaque from the back of the clock. If you look closely, it reads: Limited Issue, Serial number 643.

sold at auction in 2008 for $20. Yours looks like it is in much better condition though so no doubt it would be worth more.

thanks, AR8Jason. One problem with your suggestion. My clock has no "doors" to slide. It is a fixed solid back, so, no way to examin the reverse side. Thanks anyway, good idea.
I suspect that the coins are real. This company marketed "Numismatic Clocks" with serial numbers and documentation. I don't think that there would be any good reason to do that if the coins were "counterfeit" or copies.

I can't find any information on the company. Looks like they held a post office box somewhere in Indiana...postal code 4723X? Can't read that last digit.
There is contact information on that website. Perhaps they have a higher resolution photo stored away somewhere on their hard drive...

I have this same clock, I got #104, I was looking for info on it (to possibly list it on CL) and found this site. I'm not finding a whole lot of info, have you discovered anything new or interesting about it?
Thanks Zyz; I got an email from the company some time back. They assured me that the clock I have was in fact, made with REAL, uncirculated coins. The founder, Marion Kay, required that all clocks in the first series, 1870, were to have uncirculated coins installed in them. And that less than 1,000 of the first series were made to keep the collectible value of them desirable to own. James.
My parents got me this same clock back in the 60's. Real coins and walnut. Unfortunately some SOB broke into my home and stole it. I wish I had it back or could buy another. It seems like I have the Marion Kay catalog somwhere.
