At a recent garage sale this frame caught my eye, in it was the image of Queen Elizabeth with Prince Andrew & the new born Prince Edward. When we got home we opened it up to find this copy of a painting by Frank H. Desch hidden behind the Queen.
It is a wonderful image, very old & fragile, somewhat yellow but still in reasonably good shape.
Frank H Desch was an American Impressionist Painter, 1873-1934, I've done some research but have been unable to find this exact image or the date it was painted.
It was produced by the The Knapp Co., Inc., NY.
9.5" wide X 11.5" high
Gotta love hidden treasure !!
Beautiful ! Love it walksoft and what a great surprise to find it :-)

Thanks for the comments & the love Hedge, Mani, & eye4beauty.
Thanks for checking out the post & showing some love, musikchoo & Mattsdad.
This caught my eye in the thumbnails because it reminded me of the work of Hamilton King that was an illustrator during the same period. It is gorgeous! Funny, I have a Hamilton King Coke Chromolithograph on here that was found in the exact same manner.. as a filler behind another piece of art. I think that should be a lesson to everyone to always check what is behind the item under the glass, don't you? I collect art of this type in all forms and think you have an incredible piece. I'll have to be on the lookout for other works by your artist. Thanks for sharing your find!
And eye4beauty, I can see it too!
@chinablue, I was going to ask you about Chromolithograph but went to your post & found your link. After examining it I would say this was produced in the same manner.
We feel very fortunate to have bought a frame for $1, & then find this beauty that has been hiding since 1964.
Thanks for the info, the comment & the love, chinablue.
Thanks for the love, eye4beauty & scandi.
Here is on that is similar Walksoft dated 1910 . He must have loved big hats and also this was in a Canada post :-) His paintings do remind me of a English lady at the Famous horse show that slips my mind but always wearing huge hats .
