This knife was inherited when my wife's Dad passed. I'm not sure of the date or origin. I was told it was a Nazi youth boot knife. Maybe someone can set the story straight. Hopefully the makers mark on the blade will be familiar. Thanks Jimbo

"The history of the "standing knight in armor holding a sword" trademark is a little bit tricky. Anton Wingen Jr. company acquired this trademark in 1920 along with the firm of Wilhelm Clauberg Waffen- & Stahlwarenfabrik.
Vintage Anton Wingen sales catalogs are illustrating a few sheath knives with this "knight in armor" logo, while most other knives show up with the standard "Othello" mark. I have no idea concerning the relationship of # 1875 to this trademark, as it was registered by Wilhelm Clauberg in 1895. Originally the "knight in armor" was registered for Clauberg firm by Ferdinand Poeter, a partner of Wilhelm Clauberg, in 1850."

Looks much earlier than Nazi era.
It looks like 19th century construction-- the markings, scabbard and antler handle would support that era as well.
The story i had always heard from Dad was it was a Hitler Youth Boot Knife. Issued to all youth in the "movement". I also have some other articles from that time but don't know if it's proper to show and tell. Nazi stuff. Jimbo

Thanks, Scott Sure doesn't look like mine, does it?
The stitched leather scabbard and silver (or nickle) fittings indicate 19th century. The markings are consistent with a 19th century German maker (Clauberg), as discussed by chinablue.
I would think that this is a German made knife from about 1850s- 1870s.
