I inherited this chair when my cousin passed away a few years ago. It could possibly have belonged to my great-great grand parents, but I can't be certain. I would just like to know more about its origins.
There doesn't appear to be a maker's mark any where on it. From my limited knowledge and a little research, I've found out that it is probably a Renaissance Revival Chair from the 19th century. The style is similar to those made by the J. S. Ford & Johnson company in Chicago/Cincinnati; however, I would like to know more. If anyone can offer any input or information, I would appreciated it.

They antique books at the Library you can research it .
Make sure you know what it is because it can mean the difference in not getting what it's worth . an experienced knowledge dealer can tell you ,
sometimes a chair could be worth 500.00 or 15,000 there are a lot of factors involved the person who made it is a factor . try the antique roadshow they give free appraisals when they are around . Be careful of a private person or even antique dealers honesty is a rare quality but they have reputable auctioneers that can tell you and give an estimate on it
