The spoils of war. This 1st model Luftwaffe officer's dagger is in great shape to be almost 80 years old. It's 19" long, the blade has some "blemishes", not rust, but is otherwise beautiful. The leather grip is flawless as is the blue leather and nickel silver sheath. Made by Siegfried by Ernst Pack & Sohne in Solingen. Thanks for viewing this piece of history. Jimbo
Was this brought home by a relative of yours? This is really nice!
mrmajestic1.....Yes, it was brought home by my Father-in-Law. He was a highly decorated 101st Airborne Master Sgt. who served in Europe from 1943 until the end of the war. He was a double purple heart, Silver Star, double Bronze Star. He was a hero. We're very proud. Thanks for the love.
Thanks Dr_Rainbow
No problem sir!
I'm a sucker for vet bring-backs, but family is even better. I've always though these daggers were interesting, but I've been waiting to find one that has fun history, like yours. Do you still have his uniform and everything? Sounds like a very brave man who deserves to have his history preserved. I wonder how many stars are on his European campaign ribbon if he was over there since '43.
Dr...Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, my daughter has his uniforms, his service .45, and helmet. In fact she made a great shadow box with his medals, his photo, German to English translation dictionary, and the flag that was on his casket. She also has 10 ft.x 7ft. red silk flag with swastika, "confiscated" at the same time as the dagger. She was very close to her Grandfather, and her creation is such a fitting tribute to him. Thank you again.
Dr_Rambow, There are 5 stars on his European campaign ribbon :) I just checked myself. Old news, but I just read the post!
BELLIN, my friend, thanks very much. Maybe i can talk her into a couple of photos of this groovy shadow box. Hear that nsvmom?
Many of us would like to see the other items from this GREAT American Hero.
When you have the time please post more!

I agree with the others & as many vets didn't talk about their experiences, would love for your wife to share what he told her about the war.
I posted my shadow box to share :)
nsvmom...Great job on that shadow box. I've always admired that piece.
