One of my earlier postings was for a pair of vases by Carl-Harry Stålhane. This is a smaller vase stoneware vase with a glossy green, black/red hares-fur glaze. Height 4" (10 cm). It has the incised "R" with 3 crowns, CHS Sweden SBC".
There is a larger version of this SBC shape - twice its size.
"Stålhane began his artistic career at Rörstrand in 1939 as an assistant to Gunnar Nylund, together they formed what came to be an extended period of greatness for Swedish stoneware. Stålhane´s potential and his initiative was early discovered and his ideas were important to keep up the company's status. In 1948 he had his own line of stoneware in production and later on was appointed artistic director at Rörstrand after Gunnar Nylund, were he remained until 1973. Stålhane´s characteristics and intensity lay in his ability to create delicate yet masculine forms and the very spontaneous but never compromising accuracy of his work."
