Hi all,
A while back, I found this sign near an abandoned house on a ranch I'm staying on in Montana, USA. My host-dad tells me that the house it came from used to be a small motel and gas station, though that isn't apparent nowadays.
The sign reads:
-Make the chart your guide-
GARGOYLE
{Gargoyle logo}
Mobiloil
"A"
This sign is property of the Vacuum Oil Company and is loaned only on condition that the user guarantees to dispense from the container to which it is attached only genuine Gargoyle Mobiloil of the grade indicated
I found it on the ground, so one side is faded and the other has some stress cracks in the enamel and rust from the exposed metal. I believe this was mounted on a pedestal or oil drum. There were two tabs on the base that wrapped around a small post and were tightened by a through bolt.
Considering I found it in a pasture where we keep cows now and then, I'm suprised the condition isn't worse. I might add that I haven't cleaned this sign, so there is a decent amount of dirt on the rusty side. A good clean would probably have the rusted side nice and white in the rust-free areas.
Can anyone shed some light on the value of this sign please?
Thanks,

Thanks to everyone who loves this!
looks like a lubester sign or posibly off of a "visable pump",but the "A" makes me think lubester. gargoylecollector or officialfuel would probably know.
