    I have been told it is Italian Majolica and should be insured.

      Here's a link to the one Majolica Porcelain Clock that I could find online:
      http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/8321697 which sold for $475 in 12/2010.

      As far as the clock is concerned, there's always a chance that a collector here will immediately recognize what you have, but in order to look any further I would need more to go on:

      Any and all information printed, stamped or labeled on the dial, movement, case and pendulum. This includes names, trademarks, serial/model/patent numbers and dates. There may also be a potter's mark somewhere on the case.

      Measurements of the dial and case. Please take measurements at the longest, widest, and deepest points only.

      Well lit photos of the entire case, with close-ups of the dial, movement and any distinctive decorative feature(s) or labels.

      How often does it need to be re-wound?

      Even that may not be enough to get a very specific, definitive identification.
