This barbie Ken doll on its lower back states ( Mattel inc. 1968, china). On the back of head states ( Disney). But the front as shown has a purple bird.
If any one knows any information please let me know.
Thanks
This is a John Smith doll from the Walt Disney animated movie Pochahontas. It's from 1995.
As for the 1968, that's likely the copyright date of just that part of the mold. I don't know dolls & action figures, but 1995 and China rings true. If it were much older it might have been Hong Kong. Mattel did much more than Ken, so I'm sure stefdesign nailed it. I'm sure there are plenty of comps on the bay.
How to date a mattel doll . Do not use 1968 as date made . Stef is correct he is new doll
here is how to date your Ken
Mattel© Barbie® and Friends: 1966 Trademarks and Dates
The main marking for Mattel’s Barbie & friends are located on the dolls buttock The date on the doll, is when the trademark was issued, not the year the doll was on the market. A modern Barbie who comes from the mid-1990?s she has a mark on her lower back/waist of: © MATTEL INC 1966
INDONESIA
This is for Barbie but ken applies also :-)
. There are many more Barbie’s on the market in the 1980-1990?s that have 1966 in their marking. So take your 1966 Date + Add the Country Name: and see below for when she was Actually Produced:
Mattel Barbie & Family:
1959-1972 JAPAN, 1968-1970 MEXICO,
1970-1987 HONG KONG, 1970-1987 TAIWAN,
1973-1978 KOREA, 1978-1988 PHILIPPINES,
1986 to present CHINA, 1986 to present MALAYSIA,
1989-1990 MEXICO, 1992 to present INDONESIA.
All your Barbies are newer not made in 1966 . Go by name of Country on back I have provided with the date 1966 and it shows what year it was really made .
I hope this isn't to confusing but many people are perplexed by date and think they have a old barbie because of them keeping that date and not making new mold dates .
I would like to thank everyone who commited. Everyone gave me good and educational advice. Thank you
