I bought this Hartmann Wardrobe luggage at a yard sale. Did a little of bit of researching online that's how I found out the type of luggage it is and possibly when it was made. Looks like a 1936 Hartmann luggage.
(First Image on this link below looks exactly like the piece I have)

Has alot of Vintage Shipping labels on it which are not in the greatest condition. But very interesting.
From what I can read one of the shipping labels indicates Norddeutscher Lloyd Zimmer-Stateroom. The writing shows
Dampfer/Name is "JM Vendereer "
Zimer No./room number "361"
Original keys are with the luggage and everything is working. All compartments open and closes okay and seem to be in tact but there is definte wear and tear like rust and a musty odor...lol
On the leather strap there is an imprint 2 613 21
Wanted to know what this is valued at and if it is better to leave as is or restore it. Would also like to know if there is a way to determine the exact year this was made.
Your Luggage is siniliar to a unit that I have; Drawers are single stack. My leather strap is in good condition and has the numerals "2 3020 14". I suspect that this represemts the date and other category of data; i.e. Model. I do not have the key to the lock, but the lock is a "Corbin # T133". Would be interested in learning the date of mfg and the value. Thanks for any suggestions.
Wow, this thing looks like it has been around the world and back a couple of times.
Not to get all morbid but this reminds me of the type of case that was found in an old basement in California this past year that had the remains of babies from long ago for those who caught that story. The pics of the trunk looked similar to this one.
Heres some of the story about the trunk
