The bench is in good shape, but the chairs are very brittle. i'm wondering how they set can be conserved. should i paint the whole set, or what? beautiful carvings! the day before i found them, someone asked me what my totem was and i told them probably the squirrel. and voila! check out the rooster too! i love that piece!

I love the things you post! I still have some gardens going, but not as many as I did 30 years ago. *L* I see things you have shared and all I can think is "I'd love to have found that!"
As for conserving these pieces, I'll leave that to someone more familiar with conservation of outdoor pieces. Having made that clear, if they were mine, I wouldn't do anything, but that's what I would do, not what I am suggesting by any means. For my taste, I would want to keep them just as they are, or as close as possible if they are staying in the garden. But I'm sure whatever you do with them they'll be lovely.

thanks so much chinablue. my options are either keep them indoors somewhere and not let anyone sit on them, or try to preserve them and make them strong enough to hold up for a couple more years. the chairs are incredibly brittle, but the bench is in much better shape. i really don't know what to do, but if i find a way to really make them stronger, i will do it.
