    When I first started placing items on this site, I put multiple pics up on the same page and only showed one pic of each basket. I wanted to do some over so I could add more detailed pictures of them. Hope nobody minds.

    This is a Nootka Woven basket. The Nootka come from the Pacific Northwest Coast and there are not many left there. Their basket weaving is some of the best there is. This basket was made around 1900-1910 or so and is called a "globular" form. They are made using Cattail leaves, Spruce Root and tule as well as a variety of grasses. It is about 5 inches high and about 4 inches at the widest part. The colors are still great and I love the shape of this. Enjoy the better detailed pictures.
